Who are Friends of the Library?
● Friends are people who want to support their community and believe that their library serves an important role in that community.
● Friends devote some of their time and energy to promote and improve the library and its services.
● Friends operate the can collection at the Lansing City Hall to raise funds for the library.
What do Friends do?
Any or all of this:
● Sponsor the Summer Youth Program
● Organize Halloween Open House
● Purchase reading incentives for young readers
● Sponsor speakers
● Conduct annual book sale
● Raise funds toward library programs and services that are not covered through government funding
● Sponsor scholarship for a high school student library volunteer
● Help organize future fundraisers
● Generate ideas to help the library help the community
● Sponsor author readings and meet and greet gatherings
